At a time of interconnected crises, philanthropy has an important role to play in addressing systemic inequity and continuing to support a strong and resilient civil society. In this context, the foundation sector has been reflecting on its practices, and has been wrestling with questions of power imbalance in funder-funded relationships. Funders across Europe are increasingly realizing we need to transform our practices to build and demonstrate more equitable partnerships with our grantees. This session will look at how we practice our values and reassess the role of the philanthropic sector in reaching more equitable outcomes, by providing more flexible funding, truly listening to what grantee partners say, and seeking to be more responsive.
