SUMMARY:CMF 52nd Annual Conference
DESCRIPTION:Our community of philanthropy will come together this fall for the CMF 52nd Annual Conference – a gathering for creating new and deepened connections\, engaging in shared learning and advancing our collective equity journey. \nThis year\, we invite you to join your Michigan philanthropy colleagues Monday\, October 7 – Wednesday\, October 9 in Northern Michigan as we hear from nationally renowned thought leaders\, your peers\, and partners across the state and beyond on how Michigan philanthropy can embrace differences and bridge divides across race\, socioeconomics\, gender\, faith and other identities. \nThrough courageous conversations\, main stage events\, workshops\, local immersive experiences and more\, during this year’s conference we will explore how – in urban\, suburban and rural communities and across the political spectrum – we can find common ground to support a more equitable shared future where all in Michigan have opportunities to thrive. \nRegistration opens on July 23! \nEmily Yang\, Senior Analyst\, Research\, CEP\, will be speaking. \nRegister

SUMMARY:SCG's 2024 Annual Conference
DESCRIPTION:We are entering a unique moment in Southern California. While the nation and the world feel increasingly divided\, there is growing global interest in the economic\, environmental\, and cultural potential of our region. Major sporting events coming to Los Angeles\, including the 2026 World Cup\, the 2027 Super Bowl\, and the 2028 Olympics and Summer Paralympics\, are harbingers of the role our region must play as a leader working to solve complex problems from housing and homelessness to climate change and disaster mitigation. \nThere are tremendous opportunities ahead for our region. All of us working across sectors—philanthropy\, government\, corporate\, and community-based organizations—have vital roles to play. But we can’t go about it alone. Now\, more than ever\, we need partnership. Because when we work together\, we work better. \nSCG’s 2024 Annual Conference\, Better Together: Creating a Collective Legacy\, will explore how our sector can leverage this pivotal moment for the long-term benefit of our communities. We will discuss how forging a legacy of equity and prosperity for our region will require us to deepen our relationships and return to fundamental questions about collaboration: How do we build community and trust between ourselves and our partners? Do we have systems of accountability and care amongst one another? What does it mean to be a thriving\, interdependent region with shared values and vision? \nWe hope you will join SCG’s signature annual event to learn about the critical issues our sector will grapple with in the years ahead\, the consequences of the impending November elections\, and the strategies needed to ensure a lasting impact in Southern California. Together\, we will explore the potential of philanthropy to leverage global moments in service of regional movements and progress. \nSeara Grundhoefer\, Analyst\, Research will be speaking.

SUMMARY:June 10\, 2024: ECCF Funders Summit 2024
DESCRIPTION:Join us: What does the Supreme Court decision mean for foundations and nonprofits? \nThe U.S. Supreme Court’s cases of Students for Fair Admissions\, Inc. (“SFFA”) v. University of North Carolina and SFFA v. President and Fellows of Harvard College ruled that race-based affirmative action in higher education violates the 14th Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. \nWhat does and doesn’t this mean for foundations\, donors\, and nonprofit organizations? The questions to consider are complex and offer varied opinions. Join us as we hear from leading foundation and nonprofit experts who share what this opinion means for foundations\, donors\, nonprofit organizations\, and the community. \nTogether\, we will share and dialogue how these rulings may be impacting our thinking and grantmaking.  Bring your thoughts\, concerns\, opportunities\, and actions to share in this safe space for dialogue and collaboration. \nSpecial Guest Speakers: \n\nElisha Smith Arrillaga\, Vice President for Research\, Center for Effective Philanthropy\nBeth Chandler\, President & CEO\, YW Boston\n\nWe hope you can join us and stay for our networking lunch! Questions? Contact Davina O’Norng at d.onorng@eccf.org.
