SUMMARY:AI With Purpose: Philanthropy's View of AI Use
DESCRIPTION:The AI revolution is upon us. It’s in the news and in the ether\, with emerging news reports and stories on a daily basis. Nonprofits and foundation staff are using AI tools on the regular\, but is our sector prepared? Are we ready to address the promise and the perils of this burgeoning technology? \nLast year\, the Center for Effective Philanthropy (CEP) released AI With Purpose: How Foundations and Nonprofits Are Thinking About and Using Artificial Intelligence\, providing comprehensive insights comparing AI use and views in philanthropy and nonprofits to date. The study aims to understand foundations’ and nonprofits’ understandings of\, attitudes toward\, and engagement with AI — and what role equity plays in these decisions. This study also provides valuable insights into the role of the sector in the changing AI landscape. \nJoin us for a discussion around CEP’s report as they highlight pertinent findings and share more about their learnings regarding the field and its readiness when it comes to the use of AI. CEP will then provide resources and recommendations for those who are interested in investing in AI coalitions. We’ll also hear from a panel of funders who are engaged in AI work\, as well as those who are more nascent to the conversation\, as they share how they’re navigating AI in the field. \nSpeakers:\nElisha Smith Arrillaga\nVice President\, Research\nThe Center for Effective Philanthropy \nLul Tesfai\nshe/her\nDirector of Program Development\nThe James Irvine Foundation \nAlberto Ortega Hinojosa\nData and Insights Officer\nThe David and Lucile Packard Foundation \nKarely Ordaz Salto\nshe/her\nDirector of CEO Affairs\nThe San Francisco Foundation \n \n
