9:30am – 11:00am CT: “Philanthropy and Policy: Undue Influence or Crucial Strategic Lever?,” in which CEP will for the first time share initial findings of new research on what foundations are doing in the policy realm, followed by a discussion among a panel of foundation leaders and trustees.

12:45pm – 2:15pm CT: “Philanthropy’s Role in Moving Beyond Political Divisions,” featuring a talk by John Inazu, Sally D. Danforth Distinguished Professor of Law and Religion at Washington University of St. Louis, followed by a panel discussion among philanthropic leaders.

7:45pm – 9:00pm CT: “Color Commentary” with comedian, actress, and CBS Sunday Morning contributor Nancy Giles.

Thursday, May 9, 2019

8:00am – 9:15am CT: “Poverty, Eviction, and Exploitation: A Vicious Cycle,” featuring a talk by Matthew Desmond, author of the Pulitzer-winning Evicted, followed by a panel discussion with philanthropic leaders and local tenants’ rights advocates.

1:00pm – 2:15pm CT: “Putting it Together: What Effective Philanthropy Looks Like Right Now,” in which a panel of philanthropic leaders will reflect on the main themes of the conference and what effectiveness entails right now.
