Listen now to the season 3 trailer.

Being a wise and effective donor isn’t easy.inline I’ve spoken with countless individual donors and philanthropic advisors about the challenges of giving in this current moment of economic uncertainty, unending natural disasters, extreme political polarization, rising inequality, and the lingering effects of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. While they are awash in resources on where to give and how to structure their giving for tax purposes, many have shared that they don’t know where to turn for advice or resources on how to get better at their giving.

Phil Buchanan and I started the Giving Done Right podcast (now in the top 2% of podcast downloads globally) in 2020 because we wanted to help donors of all types become smarter and more effective in their giving. We recognize that being an effective giver has its unique challenges.

That’s why, this fall, we’re excited to bring you the third season of Giving Done Rightinline (you can catch up on seasons one and two here). This season, we’re bringing you new voices and perspectives to address vital questions like:

  • What’s the best way to give in the wake of a natural disaster?
  • How can donors best give to communities that are often rendered invisible?
  • How can our giving counter inequality?
  • How much should a donor give?
  • Should donors focus on solving immediate problems or work on root causes (and if both, what should the balance be)?
  • How can our life stories, values, or faith shape our giving?
  • How can we involve colleagues and our family members?

Our guest lineup for this season includes (in no particular order): Arthur Blank and Fay Twersky of the Arthur Blank Family Foundation, Gladys Vega of the nonprofit La Colaborativa, author and activist Heather McGhee, Allison Sesso of RIP Medical Debt, major donors Vinh and Leisle Chung, Ford Foundation’s Darren Walker, Patricia McIlreavy of the Center for Disaster Philanthropy, and major donor and restaurateur April Tam Smith. There will also be some surprises along the way!

We hope you’ll subscribe on your favorite podcast platform and join us each week this fall.
