How can philanthropy support grantee AI Capacity?

November 20, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

During this session, hosted by the Philanthropy Working Group at the Natural Language Processing Community of Practice (NLP-CoP), we will look more closely at the role of philanthropy in supporting grantee capacity to make decisions about their own internal use of AI and their integration of AI into their programming. We will start by learning more about the Center for Effective Philanthropy’s recent survey on the use of AI at Foundations and Non-Profits, with a specific focus on findings about where nonprofits are looking for support and capacity development, including areas of training, expertise, infrastructure and core support. Then we will hear from two foundations about their own capacity development initiatives and what they have learned about supporting in this area.

We will be joined by Elisha Smith Arrillaga (VP of Research at the Center for Effective Philanthropy), Lili Gangas (Chief Technology Community Officer at the Kapor Center), and Nick Arevalo (Capacity Building Director at Tipping Point Community).
