Product Manager at Opower (as of August 2016)

Former position at CEP
Manager

Length of tenure at CEP
5 years

What are you up to these days?
I’m a product manager at Opower. I currently manage our residential energy efficiency products, which are used by almost 100 utilities around the world to help their customers better manage their energy consumption.

How did your time at CEP prepare you for what you’re doing now?
My time at CEP gave me a great mix of analytical skills (statistics, data modeling) as well as the opportunity to work with and present to senior management at some of the largest foundations in the world. Being able to convert data into insights and turn that into action is one of the most valuable skills I have and one I’ve applied throughout my career.

What did you do between your time at CEP and your current role?
I attended the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.

What do you miss most about working at CEP?
Working with such a smart, passionate, and caring group of people. As I’ve moved through my career, I come to realize how hard it is to find a place where you get to know all of your colleagues well and respect all of them.

What advice would you give someone about working at CEP?
Everyday, remember that your research, spreadsheets, and presentations are making the world a better place.

Describe your perfect Sunday
Go for a hike. Swim in a river. Eat oysters on the beach. Fly a kite. Drink good beer.

Responding to the State of Nonprofits in 2026: What Funders Can Do

Reading CEP’s latest report on the current state of nonprofits took me back to the Great Recession and the challenges brought on by COVID-19. The combination of CEO and staff burnout along with increased demand for services is — unfortunately — all too familiar. Add...
