This Research Snapshot explores how U.S.-based nonprofits and foundations are being impacted by the country’s political climate. Drawing on survey responses from 241 nonprofits and 243 foundations collected between August and October 2024, the report examines:

  • What aspects of the 2024 U.S. political climate are affecting nonprofits and foundations — and whether they are changing their work in response.
  • Concerns from foundation leaders about a potential retreat from racial equity funding within the philanthropic sector.

The report offers insights into this pivotal moment for both philanthropy and the nation and underscores the critical need to support nonprofits as they work to serve their communities.
