This companion piece to the Center for Effective Philanthropy’s three-year research study on the impact of MacKenzie Scott’s large, unrestricted giving presents in-depth profiles of seven organizations that received Scott grants.
Going beyond the data presented in “Breaking the Mold: The Transformative Effects of MacKenzie Scott’s Big Gifts,” the third and final report in CEP’s three-year study, these profiles offer deeper insight into the on-the-ground impact of Scott’s gifts.
The organizations profiled represent a variety of nonprofits of different types, sizes, and locations, from East Texas to northern Tanzania, and their experiences and uses of the gift vary as widely as the recipients of Scott’s gifts — though each one exemplifies the transformational effect of the grant and the impact it had for the organization, the community it serves, and its leader.
These profiles were authored by Lowell Weiss of Cascade Philanthropy Advisors.
