Our Approach to Research
CEP conducts research to inform funders about effective practice. Our approach is rooted in a belief that research and data can help donors do their work more effectively – so they can create more impact in partnership with communities.
Rigor, Transparency, and Access
CEP’s research is based on rigorous methods and combines quantitative and qualitative approaches. We study topics that we believe are crucial to effective philanthropy, from foundation-nonprofit relationships to questions related to strategy and assessment. All our research is grant-funded and made available on our website for free download.
We believe research should be conducted with the highest integrity, with transparency about limitations and methodology. All of CEP’s research reports based on surveys fielded by the research team meet the transparency standards defined by the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR); CEP is a member of AAPOR’s Transparency Initiative.
